A new app for the iPhone called Budgeter has turned up on the app store that is designed to help you save some green each month. The app has calculators that can help you calculate expenses and track where your money goes.
I know I once sat down and went over my budget and found that I spent over $1000 each month eating out. Other features of the application include a hidden expense calculator, monthly cash flow calculator, and a net worth calculator. The app is free to download.

Bag-claim Uses Bluetooth to find luggage at claim area
by admin on Aug.13, 2009, under App / Software, Apple / iPhone

It seems like the bags go around a hundred times before I can spot mine through the throngs of people. A new app for the iPhone called Bag-claim is now available for $4.99. The app uses your Bluetooth speaker and makes a sort of luggage radar to tell you when your bag is near.
The app can sense the Bluetooth speaker when it’s inside your bag from 75 feet away. As you luggage gets closer, the app gives feedback through visual cues and vibration. Any Bluetooth speaker should work for the applications according to the developer.

eTextbooks available on iTunes
by admin on Aug.12, 2009, under Apple / iPhone
School is almost back in session and while parents may be glad that back to school time is here, students are probably not happy about it at all. If you are heading off to college this year and your campus isn’t on the Kindle digital textbook program, you might be able to use a new iPhone app to get your books.

CourseSmart LLC has announced its new eTextbooks application is now available on the App Store. The app gives students and teachers access to the CourseSmart eTextbooks with a catalog covering most of the titles in use on campuses today.
The student can buy the needed textbook at about half the price of a print textbook. The big catch to me has to be the fact that the iPhone screen is rather small to be trying to read a textbook frequently. The upside is that the books are searchable by topic.

Bank allows deposits to be made by taking pics of a check with iPhone
by admin on Aug.10, 2009, under Apple / iPhone

I wish my bank would adopt the system that USAA is using that allows people with an iPhone to deposit checks by taking pictures of the front and back. The catch is that to use the service a person has to not only have an account with the bank, but must have credit with the bank and some sort of insurance to prevent fraud.
I bet the credit part is because if the check bounces or turns out to be bogus, they will add the amount to a credit card for you to pay back. Still, I’d take that chance and gladly never go to the bank again.
