HTC has announced that it has now officially sold a million Magic handsets. Not magic as in pulled a rabbit out of the battery compartment mind you, Magic as in the myTouch 3G. The million sold number is a global figure and not for the U.S. alone.
At the same time the announcement was made HTC’s Peter Chou also said that the company intends to make at least 50% of its line represented by mid-range smartphones. That equates to devices that cost about $300.

HTC Touch Pro 2 for T-Mobile tips up
by admin on Aug.12, 2009, under HTC
HTC has been introducing new mobile phones hot and heavy over the last few months. The most interesting of them all may well be the Hero with its sweet design and Android operating system. T-Mobile has got a new HTC handset as well.

The HTC Touch Pro2 has landed on T-Mobile and offers 3G connectivity and more. Our sister publication SlashGear has the Pro2 on video for an unboxing and a quick hands-on. The Pro2 measures in at 4.59″ x 2.36″ x 0.68″ and weighs 6.61 ounces. It has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and sports a 3.6-inch touchscreen.
One of the bad points of the device is that it lacks the 3.5mm headset jack that the CDMA version offered. The device does ship with a headset, but we all know stock headsets leave a lot to be desired. The device is far from cheap; T-Mobile offers it for $349.99 with a 2-year contract and a mail-in rebate.

The Diamond 2 has a 3.6-inch screen, 5MP camera, and a mesh look casing. It runs a Qualcomm 528MHz processor with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. The Mega is a Windows mobile 6.5 phone with a similar 528MHz processor, 2.8-inch screen, and 3MP camera. Pricing is unknown at this time, but the Mega is expected to be cheaper.
HTC Fiesta discovered hidden in UA profile
by admin on Aug.10, 2009, under HTC
HTC has been launching new smartphones willy-nilly recently. The most notable new HTC device has to be the Hero that launched not so long ago. HTC has been focusing on Android-powered devices, but does say that it is still going to develop new Windows Mobile handsets too.
CellPassion reports that it has discovered a UA Profile for a new HTC device called the T5252 Fiesta. The device is reportedly an Android handset and it is apparently headed for AT&T here in America.
The profile shows the device to have a screen resolution of 240 x 320 and a keyboard. What we don’t know are hard details and if the phone will be a full smartphone or if it will be a text centric feature phone.

Verizon drops existing smartphones to $99 or less
by admin on Aug.03, 2009, under BlackBerry
Verizon has a slew of smartphones in its current lineup and with the feature phone and smart phone market booming and retailers already building up for the holiday season you can bet more phones are coming. Too bad for Verizon that the Pre won’t hit its network until next year.

The Pre may not be on Verizon customers’ holiday list for this year, but some rumors are being reported by The Boy Genius Report. These new rumors add up to look like there are several new smartphones coming to the nations largest network.
BGR reports that Verizon has dropped the price of some key phones like the Touch Pro from $419 to $99. The only two phones said to be left at higher than $99 prices are the Blackberry Tour and the Samsung Saga.
