Platinum Protection offers home security app for Blackberry and iPhone

The apps allow users to access functions of security systems directly on the smartphone. Users can view live camera fees, tilt, and adjust cameras and record video clips of criminals during a break in.
The app is available for free, but users must have a subscription to Platinum’s web-based Platinum Interactive service. The system can also be set to alert homeowners if their home floods, has a power outage or when the front door opens.

Sakhr offers Arabic translator for Blackberry

A company called Sakhr Software has announced a new translator application for the Blackberry that lets English and Arabic speakers communicate in real-time using the Blackberry smartphone. The app allows the user to speak the sentences in either language, view the translation, or play it aloud.
To use the app the user simply speaks the English or Arabic sentences into the smartphone. The translation is displayed on the window and the user can hear the translation played aloud. The app is available now and the company counts the DoD among its customers.

Blackberry users get new enhanced print app for PrintStik

A company called PlanOn has a cool mobile printer called the PrintStick that is small enough to take on the road. The company has announced that a new print application service for Blackberry users is now available.
The PlanOn Mobile Enhanced Print Application can print directly to PrintStick printers without needing a computer. The SaaS service is available as a subscription service for individual users. For the first year, there is no cost for buyers of the PrintStik PS950 printer and after that the service is $29.95 per year.

First Twitter video app hits Blackberry App world

The first Twitter video application for Blackberry devices has hit the Blackberry App World. The app is called TwitVid and claims to be the easiest way to get video from your mobile phone to Twitter. TwitVid also says that it will power video for UberTwitter, the most popular Twitter app for Blackberry devices.
The TwitVid app lets you tweet videos directly from the Blackberry smartphone. To use the app you launch it, select or record a video, type a tweet, and click post. The process claims to take only seconds to complete. The app is also available for the iPhone 3GS.

AirStrip OB for medical pros hits Blackberry

AirStrip Technologies has announced a new application for Blackberry smartphones called AirStrip OB. The AirStrip company is well known in patient monitoring for monitors that track heart rhythms and other data. The app works for the Blackberry Bold, tour, Curve, and 8800 line. Support for the Pearl and Storm is coming this fall.
The app has been cleared by the FDA and allows the caregiver to see patient waveform data including fetal heart rate and maternal contractions. In real-time directly from the monitor in the room from wherever there is a cellular connection. The app is also available for the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices.
