Vertu Constellation Monogram Collection celebrates 10 years of shocking prices
by admin on Mar.15, 2008, under Vertu
Hard to believe it but Vertu – maker of precious-metal-clad cellphones with ridiculous price-tags – have managed to survive for ten whole years, and to celebrate they’ve created limited editions of their Constellation range. Named the Monogram collection, after the Vertu V-embossed leather back, the handset will be available in five colours: Pewter, Green, Red, Skye Blue or Cerise.

Adding the logo to the fine-grain leather apparently takes four hours, after which Vertu applies a special protective layer. Still, if it were mine I don’t think I’d put it in the same pocket as my keys. Spec-wise, the Constellation isn’t anything special: EDGE, quadband GSM and Bluetooth 2.0 are pretty much as good as it gets. The Constellation Monogram collection will be available from April 1st.

Mixed Metal handset from Vertu Constellation series

Vertu has introduced a new version of the Constellation phone called Mixed Metall. The shell is coated with stainless steel with golden parts. The navigation pad, side buttons, speaker grates and screws are made of 18-carat yellow gold. It comes with the ceramic keyboard and the rear panel covered with black leather. In addition Vertu released a Constellation version of satin steel and burgundy colored leather coat.

I’d remind you that Vertu Constellation handsets debuted in fall 2006. These are candy bar phones equipped with 208×208 pixel displays and sapphire glass. Vertu Constellation works in GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, supports Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 interfaces, and lacks a camera.
