Smartphone users need more security

by admin on Aug.19, 2009, under App / Software, Apple / iPhone

Security firm Trend Micro conducted a survey that found smartphone users are not concerned enough about security. Only 23% of smartphone users take advantage of security software that is installed on their phones.

The most familiar threat according to the survey for smartphone users is phishing, 80% of smartphone users know what it is, and 20% say they have encountered a phishing scam. Spam is another of the common and recognizable threats.

The survey found that 40% of smartphone users have clicked on links in spam messages. The survey also says that the iPhone user is more likely to surf the net from their phone, visit audio and video sharing sites, and send and receive email. That means the device is more susceptible to threats.
