TomTom and AT&T announced mobile connectivity on GPS

TomTom and AT&T announced yesterday that they have teamed up to provide connectivity for a new GPS unit. The GPS device is called the TomTom XL 340S Live and it integrates local search with other connected services in the mid-range for GPS devices.

The 340S Live has connectivity that comes via AT&T’s 3G network, which is notoriously sketchy in many areas. Connected services include real-time traffic and TomTom Fuel Price Service. Users can also get local weather forecast and more.

The GPS device has optimal routing for traffic and time of day and can route drivers to the closest gas station with the lowest price. The XL 340S Live will sell for $299.95 and includes three months of AT&T service. The cost for service after the first three months is unknown.
