China gets gold version of the Motorola A1600

by on Nov.28, 2008, under Motorola

Wouldn’t you know it a golden version of the Motorola A1600 has just appeared on the Chinese version of Motorola’s site. It seems that China gets all the crazy and wild handsets. Gold and crocodile skin never made a phone look so good!

Motorola even managed to French jeweler Cartier, in on the deal. From what we can see not much was changed from the original version other than the appearance and materials. It seems a lot of the better handsets are either getting gold editions, or cheap rip-off versions. With all of the crazy designs and new phone concepts, we can’t wait to see what Motorola will do next.

LG announces the new LG Prada II with snazzy watch

by on Nov.28, 2008, under Uncategorized

LG has announced the newest version of the sleek LG Prada smartphone. The new LG Prada II will be released in Europe by the end of the month accompanied by a fashionable watch called the Prada Link, but there is more to this watch than meets the eye.

Built-in Bluetooth allows users to see incoming calls as well as read SMS text messages just by looking at the watch. While this is not the first Bluetooth enabled watch we have seen, this is the first to be designed to match a handset. The watch beautifully matches the phone so you can stay up to date with fashion. The Prada Link also comes with a fashionable price tag and by fashionable we mean expensive. The watch costs half the amount of the phone itself, 299 Euros to be exact.

The LG Prada II has a 5-megapixel camera, video calling and slide out full QWERTY keyboard. The 3” 240 x 400 touchscreen gives users hatic feedback.  For those of you who are wondering, yes this handset has 3G and GPS.  The LG Prada II will cost 600 Euros upon release.

FCC gives the Porsche P9522 a green light

by on Nov.28, 2008, under Mobile Phones

Looks like the FCC gave the Sagem-made Porsche P9522 the green light. Some of you may be thinking, Porsche going through the FCC? No not a car, this is the quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) radio, candybar style phone.

Like a Porsche, this phone has plenty of bells and whistles including, a 5-megapixel camera and fingerprint reader. This is cutting it a bit close if they plan to have it in US dealerships in time for the holidays. Much like most Porsche drivers, this phone is not for the budget minded. Maybe those with some extra cash can finally be able to say they have a Porsche.

Speed is generally associated with the name Porsche, but this handset is anything but. With all the emerging phones being 3G compatible we assumed that this handset being one of a kind would follow suit, after all it does have a fingerprint reader.  Hopefully Porsche will think of all the speedsters next time they show us an unusually handsome handset.

Fake Motorola Aura brings the bling!

by on Nov.28, 2008, under Mobile Phones, Motorola

With all things that are luxurious and expensive there are bound to be knock-offs.  Motorola’s new Aura is no exception to the rule. China continues to deliver the cheapest knock-off of just about everything to meet your cheap needs.

Motorola is releasing their new luxury handset just in time for the holidays with little consideration to the current economic crisis. Motorola has also done everything in their power to keep the Aura off of Ebay. Apparently someone felt the need to make such a handset available to people in every price range.

We can definitely say you won’t be looking your best sporting this pile. The handset itself is made of a white plastic, far from the premium materials of the Aura. The phone itself does have up to 4 hours of talk time so we know the battery is getting the job done. One thing this handset does manage to offer is plenty of BLING!
